Axl Rose op tournee met AC/DC
"AC/DC band members would like to thank Brian Johnson for his contributions and dedication to the band throughout the years. We wish him all the best with his hearing issues and future ventures. As much as we want this tour to end as it started, we understand, respect and support Brian's decision to stop touring and save his hearing. We are dedicated to fulfilling the remainder of our touring commitments to everyone that has supported us over the years, and are fortunate that Axl Rose has kindly offered his support to help us fulfill this commitment. AC/DC will resume their Rock Or Bust World Tour with Axl Rose joining on vocals."
Met deze woorden neemt AC/DC afscheid van zanger Brian Johnson en wordt Axl Rose (Guns N' Roses) ingelijfd als nieuwe frontman.
Brian Johnson - sinds 1980 zanger van AC/DC -heeft al enkele maanden te kampen met gehoorproblemen. Daardoor moest hij op doktersadvies afhaken voor de aankomende tour van AC/DC.
Aldus het officiële verhaal. In een reactie liet Johnson optekenen dat hij uit de band werd gezet. Het fijne zullen we er allicht nooit van weten.
Hoe dan ook, op 16 mei zal het Axl Rose zijn die de vocals van AC/DC voor zijn rekening neemt tijdens het opteden van de Australische band op de weide van Werchter. Dit concert is helemaal uitverkocht.
Axl Rose speelt dit weekend nog op het Coachella festival met Guns N' Roses.
